Surprise Date Night

So yesterday Ryan called and texted me a bazillion times at around 4:30pm. He was trying to get a hold of me to tell me that we were going on a surprise date. He told me to be ready to leave by no later than 6:30pm and dress like we were going to the symphony. He assured me we weren't really going to the symphony, but that actually sounded like fun to me, so I wouldn't have minded that.

I was ready to go by 6:15pm because I was super excited. Ryan has never taken me on a surprise date, so this must be an awesome event, I thought. We headed out in the car north towards Frisco. As we exited the highway, this is what I saw...

CIRQUE OVO? YES!!!

I was excited enough that we were getting to just go to Cirque. Then we got out of the car and promptly got ushered into the VIP Tapis Rouge tent. OMG! This included amazing dinner, alcohol, commemorative picture, Ovo program and excellent seats. The food was simply the best food I have had in a long, long time. Menu items included:

*Beef Tenderloin with Horseradish Mustard on Silver Dollar Rolls
*Crostini with Goat Cheese Dolop
*Edible Orchids Stuffed with Chicken Salad
*Baguette Sandwiches with Porcini Mushrooms
*Crab and Lobster Nachos
*Bloody Mary Shrimp Shooters
*Ahi Tuna Spoons with Red Pepper and Mandarin Orange
*Assorted Fruits and Cheeses with Hummus
*Asian Chicken Skewers with Spiced Cotton Candy (This was the best thing ever!)
*White and Red Wine, Champagne and Beer
After eating all of these absolutely wonderful things (yes, I had at least one of everything listed above except for the fruits and cheeses) and 2 glasses of champagne and a glass and a half of wine, it was time for the show. We had excellent seats and the show is amazing. The actors are all so into their characters. I love that about Cirque shows.

Intermission soon came and we were invited back into the VIP tent for more drinks and dessert. There were mini cupcakes, mini beneights, a chocolate fountain with dippers, a make your own cupcake bar and strawberry banana smoothie shooters. I am not a big chocolate fan, so I just had a mini beneight, three mini cupcakes and a strawberry banana smoothie shooter. Also, I found another couple glasses of champagne to drink. Yum! Also, during intermission we picked up our commemorative photo and free program.

After intermission, we went back in to watch the last half of the show. It is now my second favorite Cirque out of the four I have seen. Nothing yet has beaten the first Cirque Ryan ever took me to, LOVE in Las Vegas. Although I liked LOVE better than Ovo, the Ovo experience was the best date Ryan and I have ever had and I know I will never forget it!

RyChar Runners

I can't believe I am saying this, but somehow, somewhere along the way, Ryan and I became runners...kinda. Ryan and I both downloaded the Nike+ GPS App on our iPhones and have really made a commitment to exercise and fitness. Ryan is, as in everything, so much better at sticking to it than I am, but ah well. I was proud of myself to have run two miles at a time and to run the two miles in around 18 minutes. Maybe not so great a run, but considering I have detested running all my life, I am proud.

Hopefully we can both continue to be fitness minded. This week hasn't been so great as we have both been really busy at work, but I think we are on the road to success.

Baby Henry!

Life has been so crazy busy, but so much has happened. The most important reason for this blog is to say that I just can't wait to meet Henry! Ryan's long time friend from high school and college just had the cutest baby ever! I don't just say this about all babies, trust me. This kid is going to be a hearbreaker for sure!

See! I told you!

Two weeks from today Ryan and I will be heading to Austin to meet this little guy. We will be taking a half day on Friday and driving down. We will be staying at Barton Creek and will hopefully have some time to play a bit in Austin. I am even going to try and get some restaurant.com coupons to use while we're there. I don't know much about the restaurant scene in Austin, but I know they have some great restaurants. I hope we can find a few!

Anyway, I am so excited for Amanda Morrison and baby Henry. I am looking forward to having a baby of my own one day. It will be at least the end of 2012 before we even consider it, but I can only hope I have a baby as cute as this little guy!

Did You Have A Stroke?

No...I just had a couple of cavities filled.

Today I had to have a few cavities filled and not only did cost a small fortune, but it always makes my TMJ flare up for a few days. Yes, I sound like a pathetic old lady, and maybe I am. I hate feeling numb for 5 hours, I hate when the hit the nerve and you're not completely numb, and I hate having to pay for it all. Now that my rant is over, I can say that I did get quite a good deal at the dentist today, at least. The dental assistant talked me into getting an electric toothbrush. She said it should help prevent cavities. Boy I hope she is right!

The kit I got comes with an electric toothbrush, four brush heads, a fancy timer thing, a travel case, a full size mouthwash, a full size toothpaste and some floss. This would retail for around $139.99 in all. The dentist only charged me $114 and I will be getting a rebate of $72, making the whole shebang only $42. It better work, but even if it doesn't, it was worth a try for the price.

Baby It's Cold Outside

Ryan and I had been hearing all week that it was going to snow on Monday. When Friday hit, the weather sites said that the snow would actually hit on Sunday. Now in Texas I never put too much credence in what a weatherman says, but for once they were right. So far, today has been great. Waking up to it being frigid outside, but having the luxury of staying in the warm bed for a bit. We started the day watching an episode of Bones, then Ryan got to play video games while I made breakfast. The best homemade French Toast I have ever made if I do say so myself.

It hadn't started to snow before breakfast, but about the time we got everything cleaned up it started to sleet. Then, after watching yet another episode of Bones, the snow began.

I am looking forward to spending the rest of the day inside the warm house, relaxing with my husband.

NYE 2010

As always, Ryan and I decided to celebrate by making food. That's just what we do. On the menu for NYE: Jalepeno Jelly Cheese App, Apple Brined Pork Chops, made from scratch Tres Frommage Mac and Cheese, Homemade Bread, Ranger Cookies and Strawberry Champagne Cocktails. Yum! Happy 2011 everyone!
