4th of July in Addison

Since my pregnant self wasn't really in the mood to drive out to a crowded field to watch the fireworks this year, Ryan and I decided to rent a hotel room where we could watch the fireworks from the balcony. This turned out to not just be a good idea, but a great one! My parents joined us and brought Thai food. We were able to stroll in and out of the air conditioning at will. There was no traffic to contend with. The room even afforded us the opportunity for a free beer, wine and canapé happy hour. Yes, this would have been better had I been able to partake in the alcohol part, but the canapés were pretty good!

Getting to see one of the top 10 firework shows in the country from the privacy of our own balcony while eating our own inexpensive food and drinking our own inexpensive alcohol and then not having to deal with traffic and being able to just jump into bed? Priceless!

Party at the Banowsky's

Ryan and I had such a great time last night! My friend Caitlyn and her husband David invited us over for a party at their new house. It was the four of us and two other couples, Mandy and Leo and Sarah and Eric. We first got a tour of their home. They just bought it, so Caitlyn warned that there was still quite a bit they wanted to do to it, but it was lovely as is. It had so much charm and character!

Next we met their sweet puppy Linus and their current foster puppy Max.

This is baby Max. Isn't he just so cute?! He is a tiny, 10 week old puppy, who was just as sweet as he could be!

Next the guys mixed us up some drinks. I had a great blackberry margarita. In fact, I had a few great blackberry margaritas. The girls then sat and chatted for awhile and the guys set up a net in the backyard and hit some golf balls.

After just a little while, David jumped on the grill and grilled up some excellent meat for fajitas. They were tasty! After dinner, a game of washers ensued, soon to be followed by a couple games of Telestrations. Telestrations is a like a game of telephone mixed with drawing pictures. Pretty fun game, especially with eight of us.

Ryan and I had a great time and can't wait to have our house ready so that we can host parties of our own.

NYE 2010

As always, Ryan and I decided to celebrate by making food. That's just what we do. On the menu for NYE: Jalepeno Jelly Cheese App, Apple Brined Pork Chops, made from scratch Tres Frommage Mac and Cheese, Homemade Bread, Ranger Cookies and Strawberry Champagne Cocktails. Yum! Happy 2011 everyone!
