Cordelia Bedelia
Our little girl Cordelia passed away yesterday. She was two and a half years old, so she was the second oldest rat we have ever had in our family. I miss her, but it was for the best. For the past three weeks, she was really already gone. She was the sweetest little rat, and we already miss her. I know Velma is very lonely in that big cage all by herself. Poor girl. We miss you Cordi. RIP.

Cordelia Bedelia
Our little Cordelia seems to be doing much better! I'm so glad she has pulled through this little spell and is back to her normal loving, curious self. Yay!

Sweet Girl
Our little girl Cordelia went deaf two days ago and it seems as if she is entering the last phase of her life. She is still such a sweetheart, even though I am sure she is scared and perhaps in some pain. She hasn't wanted to come out of her cage for two days, but tonight, I eventually coaxed her onto my lap. My rule is that if she doesn't want to come out, she doesn't have to, but I'm so glad she did. She sat on my lap for what must have been 30 minutes. She groomed my hands almost the entire time. She even fell asleep for a few minutes. Although it was extremely sweet, it was also heartbreaking, as girl rats only ever sit still if they are sick or dying. Hopefully she will come back from this, but if not, we will miss her so much.
Here is one of my favorite pictures of Cordelia when we had just brought her home. She was so small!

Too Short A Time
Our littlest girl Eve passed away unexpectedly yesterday. She seemed just fine in the morning, but by the time Ryan and I got home for work around 9 hours later, she was gone. It appears as if she had contracted a strong strain of pneumonia that killed her. Unfortunately, she also seems to have passed it along to Astrid, one of our older rats, who is now fighting for her life. We are doing everything we can for her, all I am hoping for is that she isn't in pain. Yesterday was a difficult day indeed.

Two New Loves
Meet the two newest additions to our family, Velma (on the left) and Eve (on the right). They are the best little rattlets we have added to our family in quite some time. They fit right in very quickly and they are already Yogie fans! It was very hard to lose both Daphne and Hazel so suddenly, but these two are already bringing a lot of joy to our home. I can't wait to watch them grow!

Our Sweet Daphne
Early this morning our sweet little Daphne lost her battle with what appeared to be a brain tumor. Right after Hazel passed away, Daphne became depressed. She had spent her whole life with Hazel. They were even cage mates at the Petco. Daphne was sick for about three weeks and last night she passed. We miss her so much already. Daphne and Hazel were both so special. Such little girls with such big personalities. We were lucky to have them both in our lives, even if it was only for a short time. Rest in peace little girl.

Nena
Lately our sweet little Daphne had been pretty ill lately. I decided to take some pictures of her in case she may leave us soon. Hazel died so suddenly that I didn't get to say goodbye, so I am trying to spend a lot of extra special time with my Daphne-girl. She is such a sweet little girl!

The Final Addition to the Now Fab Four
After going to get baby Astrid, we decided that we needed one more baby to round out our rattie family. So, after a long search for just the right little girl, we found a beautiful Russian blue and white baby. Meet Cordelia!
