Our Girls

Ever since I moved out on my own, I have owned rats. I wasn't allowed to have any pets in my first apartment, but I figured they wouldn't really mind small animals housed in a cage. So I started off with a group of three girls and have since continued to make rattie girls a part of my family.

My love for rats began in the 4th grade in Mrs. Fuchs' science class. I was assigned to take care of the class pet rat for the entire summer. Sweetpea was a beautiful and sweet little black and white girl.  My family and I had fun letting her out to run around the couches late at night.  She was so full of energy!  She was a lot better of a pet than when I was assigned to take home the hermit crabs, who all ended up dying might I add. Ever since that summer between fourth and fifth grade I have loved rats.   They are smart, fun and loving creatures. How could anyone think they are terrible pets? Just look at these sweet little faces and try not to fall in love!   Our Ratlets
