Yesterday was our family and friend baby shower to celebrate the upcoming arrival of Grayson Kent Alexander! Usually baby showers are pretty much just women who eat cake and play shower games. At least stereotypically. Not so much my style. So instead we had a party for all of our friends, men included, filled with beer, brats, and burgers. It was quite the event! Ryan's parents were able to fly in from Colorado and were a big help. I also got to see friends from all walks of my life, old bosses, old coworkers, current coworkers, old teachers, and other friends. It was so nice to have everyone come out for a little while to celebrate this new life! Grayson got some wonderful presents to get him started out right and everyone who joined us seemed to have a great time. Now we are just counting down the days until Grayson joins our family!

Returning Home
Now, since it's Facebook official and all, I am excited to say that Ryan has been offered a job back at ClubCorp, the company he worked at before Interstate Batteries. He will be their HRIS and Compensation Analyst. He is excited to be back as he really liked working with the staff there. His official start date with CC is November 18. I know he is really excited and even for me, it really does feel like coming back home.

New Member Golf Outing
Yesterday Ryan and I played in the new member golf outing at Brookhaven. We played in a foursome with two other men, Blake and Adam. They were both great golfers and about the same level of play as Ryan, so I know he had a great time. I had fun too, although I wasn't a great help to the team. We played the outing as a scramble, so I was happy just to have had two drives that were playable for the team. We ended up scoring somewhere in the middle of about 10-12 teams. We may not have come in first, but for me it felt great to not come in last.
After the round, we sat down to fresh grilled hamburgers and brats, homemade potato salad and cole slaw, chips, cookies and a keg of beer. It was a bit hard to find a shady spot, but we did find one and enjoyed a wonderful meal with Blake and Adam.
All in all, a great day!

Nothing Much
Nothing much has been happing lately. Simply a lot of work, a little golf and some relaxation time. Seeing as how today was Easter, Ryan and I celebrated with 9 holes of golf at Brookhaven's President's course followed by dinner at BJs. It was excellent. I played horribly overall, but had a few really great shots. I am slowly getting better at golf, I think, it just feels like the way I play is shifting right now. I feel like I am starting to understand how to place the ball as opposed to simply praying that I actually hit it. I think I have many years to come of playing many wonderful courses with my husband.
Happy Easter!
Happy Easter!

Ah, Brookhaven
What a wonderful day! Ryan and I played a gorgeous 9 holes of golf at Brookhaven Country Club. After he royally kicked my butt, we headed to the 5Five Grill for drinks and appetizers. Soon, my parents arrived to join us for dinner. It was fajita night so we all had all the queso, chips, rice, beans, enchiladas and fajitas we could eat. We also got $1.50 margaritas. Yum! I'm so blessed to be able to spend time with my family so often, especially at so many amazing local clubs. I can't wait until next time!

Alexander Morrison Golf Season
For the past couple of years Ryan and his friend Mike have played multiple rounds of golf per year to see who could win the most rounds of match play. Ryan wanted a logo to use for their 2011 season, so I put a little something together.
Cute, huh? I am a fan, but of course I made it. May the best man win the 2011 season!

Golfing at Hackberry Creek
Today was absolutely the most beautiful day that I have ever spent at a golf course. Ryan decided to warm up a bit, but I didn't feel like it, so I sat and enjoyed the breeze in the cart. I was lucky I didn't because I got to witness the cutest thing ever. I saw a momma squirrel carrying a little balled up baby squirrel in her mouth. It was adorable!
After Ryan warmed up, we set out for the first hole. I ended up playing like crap all day. I hadn't played Hackberry Creek before, so the new course design through me off a bit. It is also a very difficult course. Ryan, on the other hand, played the best front nine holes of golf he ever had, and even though his back nine score wasn't so great, it was still his second best round of golf ever at Hackberry Creek, which he has played a lot.
It was a fun day, although I would have enjoyed it more had a played a bit better. I guess there is always next time.

Golfing at Oakmont
Ryan shot a 114, which is not his best, and I shot a 116, which is my best so far. After the first nine holes I was up by a stroke 56 to 57. Sadly, I couldn't hold it together on the back nine. I really have gotten a lot better. This is the second time I have played 18 holes, as we play 9 quite a bit, and the first 18 I ever played I shot a 150. So to improve by 34 strokes so far, is pretty good. Hopefully Ryan and I can continue to play and I can break 110 soon!

Lake Park Night Course
Ryan had a lot of homework to do this past weekend, so I didn't think we would have any time to do anything together. About 4pm, Ryan decided he wanted to go golfing. Great thing about living in Lewisville is that there is a night course right next to our house.
Lake Park is a small, 9 hole par 3 course, but it was a lot of fun. No, it wasn't because I beat Ryan. Let me say that again...I beat Ryan. I just really enjoyed it because as a beginning golfer, Par 3s are a great way to learn. I feel that in just the few times that I have played, about 7 times now, I have gotten a lot better. I am feeling more confident about holding my own on the course and not slowing others up. I think that I am starting to hit my clubs an appropriate length and sometimes the ball even goes where I want it to.
I really like golf. Shhhh...don't tell Ryan. Now don't get me wrong, I still like tennis and basketball much more, just because they are a different kind of physical. But a love for golf is kinda creeping up on me. Who knew that something I begrudgingly took up would be something I actually ended up truly enjoying.

Another Golf Sunday
Ryan and I finally had time to make it out to the course today. Ryan decided we would make a tee time at Hackberry Creek Country Club. It was a really pretty course and fun to play too. I had only ever been in the HCCC clubhouse, so getting out on the course was nice. Beautiful!
We ended up pairing with a nice guy named Jeff. Jeff was about our age, a member of the club and an actuary. He was a much better golfer than Ryan and I, but he was very sweet, so we had a fun day anyway.
After playing 9, Ryan and I went in to get some dinner. Hackberry has one of the best chefs around. I had these amazing shrimp tacos, Ryan had an ahi tuna salad and we both had some beers. It was all excellent! We also got to watch a bit of the Cowboys game, even though they ended up losing.
I really missed playing golf, so I was happy that Ryan finally was able to go! Poor guy is always so busy with school and work, I'm glad he was able to have a relaxing Sunday off.

Mini Golf at Golden Bear
Today Ryan and our friends Mike and Amanda went to play some mini golf, excuse me, I meant some golf on the 18 hole putting course as they call it at Golden Bear. Even though I came in last place, it was a fun time. After golf we hit up the Rosa's for some great Mexican food. It was a great end to this awesome Fourth of July weekend!
